The Page Turner (French: La Tourneuse de pages) is a 2006 French film directed by Denis Dercourt. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.[1]
A young girl Mélanie Prouvost, aspires to be a pianist and auditions in front of a famous pianist Ariane Fouchécourt; for a place at a conservatoire. The recital does not go well and the young girl (Mélanie Prouvost) leaves the audition with her mother, heart broken; seemingly blaming the famous pianist, vowing never to play music again.
Some years later Mélanie, having studied hard finds a work experience placement at a solicitors; perhaps coincidentally we find the family of the famous pianist she previously auditioned for. The story develops as the young lady integrates herself into the life of the family, becoming a holiday carer for the families young son who the family aspires will follow in the footsteps of the mother as a famous pianist. Befriending the aspiring pianists son, Melanie encourages him to prepare a full piano recital performance for the return to the family home of his father subsequent to a business trip. With Melanie's expertise at reading music she assists the pianist, who suffered a crisis of confidence subsequent to a vehicle collision, by expertly timing the turning of music pages so helping the champion pianist find her old confidence and leading to returned acclaim. But Mélanie has revenge on her mind, a dish best served cold!
